Campus for the Arts website
The Downtown Campus for the Arts website grew out of an urgent need to have a repository for information and updates surrounding a new initiative. The idea of a downtown campus had made it to the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s list of Big 5 Ideas, and while the chamber was working on their own website, we needed information about the initiative up sooner. A number of constituents needed to be represented in the website, and it was important that the site be informational in tone, setting the stage for exploration rather than sharing a proposal that had already been determined.
Because the project had such a short deadline and couldn’t follow our usual development process, I managed the project from beginning to end, gathering content from various staff, creating the design, developing the site and getting the correct approvals along the way. I chose WordPress as the site platform because it would be easy to hand off to public relations staff for maintenance after the site launched, and this model became one we repeated for several similar projects.
